For riders

Whatever you ride, you’re welcome

Adventure bikes, cruisers, a classic Brit twin — it doesn’t matter what’s in the shed. The Milestone sits right on Queen Charlotte Drive, with a full day’s riding in every direction and a host who’s happy to talk roads over a cold one when you’re back.

The road

One of the country’s great touring roads

Queen Charlotte Drive winds along the water between Picton and Havelock — sealed all the way, corner after corner, with the Sounds opening up at every bend. It runs right past the gate.

At the cabin

Set up for bikes

Pull in off the road, get the gear dry, and settle in for the night.

  • Somewhere to dry wet gear at the end of the day
  • Heavy-duty hangers for riding leathers in the King room

From the door

Rides to fill a day, or a week

  1. 01

    Queen Charlotte Drive

The classic, and it starts at the gate — a ribbon of corners along the water between Havelock and Picton. Ride it both ways; it’s different each time.

  2. 02

    Out toward French Pass

A long, committing run to the far edge of the outer Sounds, where the tide races through the gap. Narrow, slow and spectacular — give it the whole day.

  3. 03

    The Pelorus & the Rai

North through Havelock and the Pelorus Bridge reserve, then the open sweepers of the Rai Valley on toward Nelson and a long lunch.

  4. 04

    The Wairau wine country

Over the hill to Blenheim and the vineyards of the Wairau Valley — easy, fast roads and somewhere good to stop at the end of them.

The little things

Built by riders, for riders

It’s in the details — the touches you only notice once you’re settled in.
